Physician A. Petrosyan involved as an accused in two criminal cases. Court to consider the issues of combining the cases
16:40, March 3, 2016 | News, Own news | Karine HovhannisyanOn February 29, 2016, the General Jurisdiction Court of Armavir Marz (Region) in its Ejmiatsin residence held the 4th court hearing on infant Karine Hovhannisyan’s case who died at Armavir Medical Center on June 16, 2015.
Note that under the criminal proceedings initiated, A. Petrosyan, Head of the Infections Diseases Unit of Armavir Medical Center, was charged under Article 130(2) of the RA Criminal Code (non-fulfillment or improper fulfillment of professional duties by medical and support personnel, which caused through negligence the patient’s death).

On the hearing of February 29, 2016, the Court continued questioning witnesses of the case.
In her testimony, Ruzanna Saribekyan, Armavir Medical Center medical staff member apprehended to the court, also mentioned that the necessary measures were taken and they had measured K. Hovhanisyan’s temperature; however, no witness was able to recall who exactly had taken the infant’s temperature.
The witness provided evasive answers to questions concerning the infant’s condition, medical examination undertaken and the diagnosis and noted that more clear answers to such questions might be provided by doctors.
The infant’s family insist that no medical staff member had taken the temperature of their child and even during the gastric lavage, they helped the doctor and not the medical staff members.
As already reported, A. Petrosyan, Head of the Infections Diseases Unit of Armavir Medical Center, is involved as a accused under another criminal case as well. She was charged under Article 130(2) of the RA Criminal Code; when providing medical assistance to infant E. Amirkhanyan, resident of Norapat village, Armavir Marz (Region), she failed to properly fulfill her professional duties due to careless and negligent attitude, which caused the patient’s death.
The prosecutor motioned to combine the 2 criminal cases initiated under the death of K. Hovannisyan and E. Amirkhanyan and to examine them under the same trial proceedings. To consider the prosecutor’s motion and decide on it, the Court adjourned the hearing and reappointed it on March 23, 2016 at 2 pm. At the next hearing, the Court would announce its decree on combining the criminal cases.
