Persecutions against Armine Arakelyan continue
10:37, November 8, 2016 | News, Own news“I warn RA Police, local authorities of Ashtarak and RA Security Service: don’t dare any more to press my doorbell and utter any words about apprehending me! You did so today on November 7, 2016, at 10:05 am. Contact my lawyer. (…)”
Armine Arakelyan, founder of the Institute for Democracy and Human Rights (IDHR) NGO, posted this note on her Facebook page this morning.
Arayik Zalyan, attorney at HCA Vanadzor, who protects Armine Arakelyan’s interests under the criminal proceedings initiated on taking Armine Arakelyan by force to a psychiatric hospital from the basin of the fountains on Republic Square in Yerevan on May 17, 2016 and subjecting her to suffering there, views this as persecution against A. Arakelyan’s personality.
According to the attorney, they have neither any necessity nor any rights to apprehend A. Arakelyan for investigative activities, especially given that she received no relevant notification. Besides, if they need her to take part in an investigative activity, they can contact the attorney to organize his client’s participation, but the investigating agency did not use any legitimate and civilized option, which is nothing more than pressure against A. Arakelyan.
