HCA Vanadzor took on protection of the rights of successors to A. Karapetyan who died at Armavir penitentiary
19:33, February 12, 2016 | News, Own news | Detention FacilitiesAs already reported, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor took on the protection of the rights of the successors to 21-year-old Anzor Karapetyan who died at Armavir penitentiary on January 4, 2016.
Under the criminal proceedings initiated on the case, on February 6, 2016, A. Karapetyan’s grandfather B. Karapetyan was declared successor to victim and attends the questionings under the criminal case. HCA Vanadzor lawyer Ani Chatinyan was declared representative of the successor to the victim.
At the same time, in her capacity of an attorney A. Chatinyan attends the questioning of Anzor Karapetyan’s family members who are witnesses under the case of charges brought against him.
Note that on December 31, 2015, a fight broke out in Armavir town, and Anzor Karapetyan was also involved therein. After the fight, A. Karapetyan presented himself before the police and was arrested. Some days later, in the evening on January 3, 2016, he was detained by a court ruling and later at night transferred to ‘Armavir’ penitentiary facilities.
A. Karapetyan was charged under Article 34-104 of the RA Criminal Code (attempted assassination).
HCA Vanadzor lawyer filed an application with the agency responsible for the investigation to be involved as A. Karapetyan’s defender under the criminal proceedings initiated.
