Court to examine 2 criminal cases against doctor A. Petrosyan under one proceedings
23:25, March 28, 2016 | News, Own news | Right to Life | Karine HovhannisyanOn March 23, 2016, the General Jurisdiction Court of Armavir Marz (Region) in its Ejmiatsin residence held the next-in-turn court hearing on infant Karine Hovhannisyan’s case who died at Armavir Medical Center on June 16, 2015.
As already reported, doctor A. Petrosyan is involved under 2 criminal cases; she is charged under Article 130(2) of the RA Criminal Code. When providing medical assistance to infant E. Amirkhanyan, resident of Norapat village, Armavir Marz (Region), she failed to properly fulfill her professional duties due to careless and negligent attitude, which caused the patient’s death.
At the court hearing of March 23, 2016, the Court ruled to combine the 2 criminal cases and examine them under one proceedings, based on the prosecutor’s motion.
At the hearing, the Court questioned Sergei Amirkhanyan, successor to the victim under the case of E. Amirkhanyan’s death, and 4 health providers of Armavir Medical Center involved as witnesses under the case, who again provided testimonies in favor of A. Petrosyan.
The answers of the witnesses to the questions of the parties to the trial suggest conclusions on the professional training of the health providers.
At the next hearing, the Court will carry on questioning of the other witnesses involved in the case. The Court will hear the statements of the dead E. Amirkhanyan’s mother and the expert responsible for the forensic examination.
The next court hearing is scheduled for April 13, 2016, at 11 am.
