Examination of appeal on the case of serviceman’s death to be resumed
15:41, December 23, 2015 | News, Own news | Right to LifeOn December 22, 2015, the General Jurisdiction Court of Ararat and Vayots Dzor Marzes (Regions) of the RA, in its Yeghegnadzor residence, presided by judge H. Petrosyan, resumed the examination of the appeal by Artur Sakunts, representative of victim’s successor Murad Khachatryan, on the case of serviceman Grisha Khachatryan’s death.
Note that the previous court hearing was adjourned by the motion of A. Sakunts, representative of the successor to victim, to provide him with the materials of the official investigation within the case.
The hearing was attended by T. Siradeghyan, representative of victim’s successor M. Khachatryan, Levon Yeghoyan, Deputy Head of the 8 Garrison Investigation Department, General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, responsible for the investigation, and Anushavan Harutyunyan, Deputy Military Prosecutor at the Garrison. The parties to the trial had no objection to holding the court hearing in the absence of the successor to victim and his representative A. Sakunts, and the Court resumed the hearing.
Presiding judge H. Petrosyan stated that in response to the Court’s inquiry, the RA Ministry of Defense submitted to the Court the official investigation materials. The Court also said that the materials above might contain state and official secrets and therefore obliged T. Siradeghyan, representative of the victim’s successor, to sign a pledge on non-disclosure.
T. Siradeghyan said that the official investigation materials were too extensive and motioned to adjourn the court hearing, so that she could get familiar with them and express her position thereon, if necessary. L. Yeghoyan, responsible for the investigation, and A. Harutyunyan, Deputy Military Prosecutor at the Garrison, did not object to the motion above to adjourn the court hearing.
Having examined the motion above, the Court ruled to adjourn the court hearing for the purposes of the competition principle, so that the aggrieved party could get familiar with the official investigation materials.
The examination of the appeal on this case will resume on January 14, 2016, at 2 pm.
