12:37, January 26, 2018 | News, Own newsOn January 23, 2018 HCA Vanadzor sent an inquiry to the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations and submitted a crime report to the RA General Prosecutor’s Office on the basis of the article published on hetq.am in regard to the reasons for ceasing work at Teghout CJSC.
The aforementioned article was published on hetq.am on January 21. It mentions that Teghout CJSC ceased work without informing the employees of the reasons. In response to the journalists’ questions, the residents of the surrounding villages expressed the view that the reason for ceasing work is the filled tailing dump. As reported by them, recently the Company has been directing tailings to the Shnogh and Debed Rivers nearby, which is hazardous for the surrounding environment. However, the Information and Public Relations Department of the Company presents the reason for ceasing work to be a “regular scheduled stop.”
With the inquiry addressed to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, HCA Vanadzor has requested information on the credibility of the information in the published article and the actions undertaken by the Ministry in that direction. The Organization has asked about the last time the technical condition of the tailing dumps and their dams in the RA was studied.
And with the report addressed to the Prosecutor’s Office, the Organization requested to initiate a criminal case and prosecute the persons who performed the actions posing a threat to the safety of the surrounding environment. We will further inform you of the responses.
