The convict of Armavir Penitentiary Institution has been in the quarantine cell for two months already instead of the assigned 7 days
10:50, January 31, 2018 | News, Own news | Detention FacilitiesOn December 1, 2017 convict E. T., who was moved from Nubarashen Penitentiary Institution to Armavir Penitentiary Institution, has been in the quarantine cell up to now despite the fact that, in accordance with the provisions of the RA Penitentiary Code, a convict can be held in a quarantine cell for no more than 7 days.
On December 25, 2017 E. T.’s representative A. Zalyan, advocate at HCA Vanadzor, applied to the RA MoJ Penitentiary Department with regard to moving convict E. T. from the quarantine cell to the common cell and providing him with the necessary medication.
Deputy Head of the Penitentiary Department A. Hambardzumyan, however, stated in a response letter that E. T. was examined by a psychiatrist and concluded that he “had no need for treatment.”
As regards moving the convict from the quarantine cell to the common cell, the Deputy Head of the PD avoided this circumstance, not touching upon it in any way.
According to the information we have, E. T. is still in the quarantine cell.
