Next-in-turn training on conscripts’ and servicemen’s rights was held in Martuni
21:16, June 2, 2016 | News, Own news | Rights of Soldiers/RecruitsA next-in-turn training by Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor on the rights and responsibilities of conscripts, pre-conscripts and servicemen was held on June 2, 2016 in Martuni town, at Martuni Women’s Community Council NGO office.
The training was mostly attended by young men of pre-conscription age, conscripts as well as servicemen’s families whose questions mostly concerned a possibility of draft deferment based on continuation of studies, family status and health problems, drafting in case of health problems, the importance and possibility of providing psychological services for military servicemen during their service and violations of statutory relations and the possibility of their prevention.
Armine Sadikyan, HCA Vanadzor Peace-building Projects Coordinator, provided comprehensive information on such questions and proposed options to resolve the issues raised.
In response to the questions of the participants, issues on conscription of persons with dual citizenship were also addressed and individual counseling was provided.
At the end of the meeting, the participants received information booklets on the rights and responsibilities of conscripts and servicemen and protection of conscripts’ rights.
