On 8th court hearing of Avetisyans family murder case
16:48, March 5, 2016 | Press Release | Avetisyan familyOn March 4, 2016, the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Marz (Region) held the 8th outgoing hearing on Avetisyans family murder case on the territory of the Russian military base № 102.
At the hearing, the Court questioned 3 witnesses of the case, Mikayel Khlghatyan, inhabitant of Yerazgavors village, Mamikon Harutyunyan, driver of the Russian border guard detachment in Gyumri, and Davit Mirzoyan, Deputy Head of the border guard troops staff.
The Court established that the RA law enforcement officers submitted no requirement on detecting, arresting and handing over to the Armenian side Valery Permyakov suspected of the murder of Avetisyans family although relevant facts were submitted on the involvement of the RA law enforcement officers in search activities, and moreover, according to witnesses, the Armenian law enforcement officers were present at the Russian military unit staff and during handing over of Permyakov by the Russian border guards to the Russian base.
According to Davit Mirzoyan, Deputy Commander of the border guard detachment staff and Head of the Border Protection Division, they had received an order to find and arrest V. Permyakov not as a suspect of the murder of Avetisyans family, but rather as a serviceman who arbitrarily deserted the base and illegally took away the weapon, despite the fact that they had already learnt about the murder from the press.
After V. Permyakov was detected and arrested while attempting to cross the Armenian-Turkish border, the commander of border guard troops ordered to transfer him to the base bypassing the road controlled by the RA law enforcement officers.
Given that only one of the summoned witnesses will be questioned at the next hearing, the representatives of the successors to Avetisyans motioned to ensure the presence of the other 6 witnesses of the case at the next court hearing as well. Note that they have already been discharged.
The next outgoing hearing of the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Marz (Region) is scheduled for March 11, 2016, at 12 pm.
