Former member of the Founding Parliament Hovhannes Ghazaryan refused to appeal to ECtHR
15:59, September 12, 2016 | News, Own news | Founding ParliamentAs reported before, on February 23, 2016 the RA Cassation Court refused to admit the appeal on the search of the apartment and office possessed by Hovhannes Ghazaryan, former Lori Marz (region) Coordinator of the Founding Parliament, and his illegal apprehension in April 2015 within the political persecution against him.
Then A. Harutyunyan and A. Sukiasyan, lawyers involved by HCA Vanadzor, planned to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights under Article 5 (Right to liberty and security of person), Article 6 (Right to fair trial), Article 10 (Freedom of expression), Article 13 (Right to an effective remedy) and Article 14 (Non-discrimination) of the European Convention on Human Rights.
On August 15, 2016, Hovhannes Ghazaryan sent them an application on taking no further steps on the case considering it unnecessary to apply to the ECtHR.
Note that along with the other members of the Founding Parliament, Hovhannes Ghazaryan (who is no longer its member) also suffered political persecution; particularly, on April 7, 2015, his apartment and the office under his disposal were searched after which he was apprehended without any legal grounds to the RA Department for High-Profile Cases as a witness and kept there for 11 hours.
