Details about Tigran Simonyan and Circumstances of His Death
12:36, February 12, 2015 | News, Own news | Right to Life, Rights of Soldiers/Recruits | Armed ForcesToday, the HCA Vanadzor staff again visited the family of Lieutenant Tigran Simonyan, a serviceman of Yeghnikner military unit deceased at the combat post on February 10, to find out more details on the incident.
During the previous visit, the staff could talk only to one family member who claimed learning about the incident from the media. As for today, the staff talked to Tigran’s parents and relatives who were indignant at the information disseminated by the media, particularly, concerning the allegedly disadvantaged situation of their family.
Tigran’s father and neighbors told the Organization’s staff how they had learnt of his death.
At about 1:15 am, February 11, Tigran’s father, Samvel Simonyan, received a call from a neighbor who urgently called him to their place. According to the neighbor, he had previously received a call from the Vanadzor Military Registration and Enlistment Office and had been informed about Tigran’s death without any details. The following day, on February 11, a Military Registration and Enlistment Office employee personally visited the Simonyans, talked to them and provided some details on the incident, which, however, were considered unreasonable by the latter.
According to Tigran’s family, the Military Registration and Enlistment Office employee informed them that the incident occurred on the combat positions as Tigran and his fellow serviceman heard the dog barking and came out to check the situation. They ran in opposite directions and as they found themselves in front of each other, Tigran’s fellow serviceman fired a shot that struck Tigran causing him a fatal injury. However, the family view this situation as unreasonable considering that the young men would have not fired in each other’s direction, as each of them knew that they might meet at some point after running in opposite directions.
“I don’t mean to blame anyone, but my Tigran had no problems with anyone,” could hardly utter Tigran’s mother, Armanush Simonyan.
She said that still as an 8th grade student, Tigran wished to enter the Military College after Monte Melkonyan, but they were against his decision. However, after leaving school, Tigran entered the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan with high grades.
“Tigran could choose between artillery and motorized infantry battalions and he chose the latter,” said Tigran’s mother adding that even after their negative opinion, Tigran did not change his mind and assured his mother that he would better succeed in that field.”
While showing Tigran’s certificates of honor and letters of appreciation, his family again mentioned that he enjoyed his job and intended to continue his studies in that area.
According to Tigran’s family, his corpse had not been conveyed to Vanadzor yet.
