Examination of the appeal on the case of A. Petrosyan accused of the death of 2 children adjourned
12:49, September 15, 2016 | News, Own news | Karine HovhannisyanOn September 13, 2016, the RA Court of Criminal Appeals, presided by Judge A. Azaryan, examined the appeals against the judgment of the General Jurisdiction Court of First Instance of Armavir marz (region), RA, dated June 2, 2016 filed by the victim’s successor Hakob Hovhannisyan’s representative Ani Chatinyan, attorney at HCA Vanadzor, and by defendant Anahit Petrosyan and her attorney Arayik Ghazaryan.
Note that A. Petrosyan was found guilty of committing an act under Article 130(2) of the RA Criminal Code and sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment and deprived of the right to hold certain offices or conduct certain activities, i.e. to hold medical offices and conduct medical activities for 1 year and 6 months.
The court hearing was attended by defendant A. Petrosyan, her attorney A. Ghazaryan, prosecutor Gor Aloyan, victims’ successors Sergey Amirkhanyan and H. Hovhannisyan and his representative A. Chatinyan. S. Amirkhanyan’s representatives Karine Andreasyan and Garik Galikyan did not attend the court hearing. The trial participants did not object to holding the court hearing in their absence.
The Court made sure that there were no self-challenge motions and then the defendant’s attorney A. Ghazaryan filed 2 motions to the court. First, he asked to ban taking video of the court hearing by the mass media arguing that the coverage of the court hearings at the first instance court was one-sided. He also said that neither he, nor his client received any copy of the appeal filed by the victim’s successor and therefore asked for some time that would be enough to get familiar with it.
Prosecutor G. Aloyan did not object to the motions above and the victim’s successor’s representative A. Chatinyan considered it necessary for the mass media to take video of the court hearing and at the same time did not object to the motion on adjourning the court hearing.
Upon on-site consultation, the Court decided to permit taking video of the court hearing, provided it was done in one position. At the same time, the Court decided to adjourn the court hearing to make it possible for the defense party to get familiar with the complaint of the victim’s successor’s representative.
The next court hearing on this case is scheduled for October 6, 2016, at 10:30 am.
