Electric Yerevan member Davit Selimyan’s case appealed to European Court of Human Rights

Note that back on June 23, 2015, he was violently apprehended from the electricity price hike protest venue to a police station and unlawfully kept there in violation of the rights under the ECHR articles below: Article 3 (Prohibition of torture), Article 5 (Right to liberty and security), Article 8 (Right to respect for private and family life), Article 10 (Freedom of expression), Article 11 (Freedom of assembly and association), Article 13 (Right to an effective remedy), and Article 14 (Prohibition of discrimination).
On February 18, 2016, the European Court of Human Rights Secretariat confirmed the receipt of the application.
Note that on the night of June 23, 2015, a water cannon was used against the peaceful electricity price hike protesters on Baghramyan Avenue. Afterwards, David Selimyan, among other protesters, was forcibly taken to the police station where he was illegally detained for about 10 hours.
D. Selimyan’s rights are protected by Anahit Chilingaryan, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor representative, and lawyer Artur Harutyunyan recruited by the Organization to handle this case.
