Second court hearing on Avetisyans family murder case held
14:39, January 19, 2016 | Press Release | Avetisyan familyOn January 18, 2016, the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Marz (Region) held another outgoing hearing (presided by judge H. Movsesyan) on the Avetisyans family murder case on the territory of the Russian military base № 102.
While at the previous hearing the Court dismissed the motion by A. Sakunts, representative of victims’ successors and Chairman of HCA Vanadzor, to withdraw the Russian military servicemen from the courtroom, there were no Russian servicemen in the courtroom at the hearing in question.
At the hearing of January 18, 2016, the representatives of the victims’ successors filed several motions. The first one was about holding the court hearing at the premises of the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Marz (Region). The judge announced a 30-minute break and then dismissed it.
The other motion concerned the self-challenge of the judge, which was also dismissed by the Court after a 1-hour break.
Also, the representatives of the victims’ successors filed a motion on the exercise of V. Permyakov’s right to a fair trial; particularly, they required to remove the handcuffs from the defendant’s hands and the glass cage where he sat. The motion was granted in part; after a 30-minute break, the handcuffs on V. Permyakov’s hands were removed.
The representatives of Avetisyans’ successors intended to file another motion before the commencement of the trial proceedings; therefore, the court hearing was adjourned.
The next outgoing hearing of the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Marz (Region) is scheduled for January 22, 2016, at 12 pm.
