The European Court of Human Rights communicated the motion under the case of detainee Hrachya Gevorgyan
20:23, May 20, 2016 | News, Own newsAs already reported, with the support of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor, Hrachya Gevorgyan’s representative, lawyer Tigran Safaryan submitted a motion to the European Court of Human Rights on taking immediate measures to provide Hrachya Gevorgyan with the necessary medical aid and care.
Note that due to the rapid deterioration of his health, the detainee at ‘Nubarashen’ Penitentiary is unable to meet his natural vital needs himself. The administration of the penitentiary refuses to take any steps to transfer Hrachya Gevorgyan to a relevant medical institution and provide him with necessary care; for this reason, the detainee has gone on a hunger strike for weeks.
The motion submitted to the ECtHR has already been communicated by the Court.
The ECtHR submitted to the RA Government its questions on the medical aid and care provided to detainee Hrachya Gevorgyan and his transference to a relevant medical institution.
In particular, the Government was required to provide information about the progress of the letter of the penitentiary administration dated April 11, 2016 permitting to transfer the detainee to the relevant medical institution of the RA Ministry of Health for medical examinations and professional consultations. Also, the ECtHR submitted questions on the medical aid and care provided to Hrachya Gevorgyan previously.
The RA Government must answer these questions by May 29, 2016.
