Effective investigation should be carried out into case of ‘Mataghis’
15:58, October 21, 2016 | News, Own newsOn October 12, 2016, HCA Vanadzor, published an article entitled ‘Mataghis’ case suspended upon its admission. It provides responses to the inquires on the case of ‘Mataghis’ submitted by the Organization in different times.
Particularly, by its letter of March 25, 2014, the RA Military Prosecutor’s Office stated that the case was admitted on September 2, 2013 and the preliminary investigation was in progress, and in its response letter (by the way, dated September 28, 2014) to a similar inquiry in 2016, it stated that “criminal case № 90800104 was suspended on September 2, 2013 under Article 31(1)(1) of the RA Criminal Procedure Code”; it follows that the case was suspended immediately upon its admission.
Some time after our publication, we received the letter of October 13, 2016 of the RA Military Prosecutor’s Office which “further to” the previous letter dated “September 29, 2016” informed that the criminal case was admitted on September 2, 2013 and suspended on June 12, 2015 under Article 31(1)(1) of the RA Criminal Procedure Code.
By presenting the response of the RA Military Prosecutor’s Office to our publication above, we believe that more attention will be paid in the future to technical shortcomings in the contents of letters to prevent any possible misunderstanding.
Also, we expect that the Military Prosecutor’s Office resumes the proceedings on the murder of the 2 military servicemen under the case of ‘Mataghis’ and shows consistency in identifying and holding liable the perpetrators of that grave crime.
