Protester N. Badalyan will not be prosecuted: the claim of Police was rejected
17:06, May 22, 2017 | News, Own news | Freedom of Assembly and AssociationOn May 20, 2017 the RA Administrative Court, presided by S. Hovakimyan, announced its judgment on protester Naira Badalyan’s case.
By its judgment, the court rejected the claim of the police to hold N. Badalyan liable under Article 180.1 (11 and 15) of the RA Code on Administrative Offences.
The court also rejected the counter-claim of N. Badalyan’s representative T. Siradeghyan, lawyer at Yerevan office of HCA Vanadzor, on declaring the police actions unlawful.
Thus, it was substantiated that N. Badalyan did not show any anti-social behavior.
Note that N. Badalyan took part in the assembly held in March 2016 before consideration of the motion on extending Gevorg Safaryan’s detention. Some of the assembly participants were apprehended by force and moved to Kentron Division of the RA Police Yerevan City Department, where they underwent administrative proceedings.
