Thus, 38 servicemen died as a consequence of the 36 incidents in the RA armed forces and the Defense Army throughout January-September 2014.
As for the same period in 2013, the death rate in the armed forces was 25. This means that the rate has increased by 13 this year.
20 out of the 38 death cases recorded in the period above were caused by the ceasefire violations; 6 death cases – by accidents; 4 death cases – by murders /with 2 intentional murders and 2 murders due to violation of rules of weapon use/; 3 death cases – by violation of combat duty or military service rules; 3 death cases – by health problems and inadequate medical services; 1 death case – by violation of rules of weapon use and 1 suicide (as formulated in the criminal case).
It should be noted that in comparison with the past five years, when the death rates caused by the ceasefire violation made about 22% of the total death rate, the death rate in the first half of 2014 rose sharply amounting to 52%. 9 of the 20 servicemen whose death was caused by ceasefire violations, died due to penetration of the enemy’s subversive intelligence groups; moreover, 5 servicemen died due to 1 penetration of a subversive group. It should be further noted that these rates have been accompanied with increased rates of ceasefire violations.
