07:37, February 8, 2013 | News | Electoral RightsOn February 3, a seminar-training was held in Vanadzor for observers having received accreditation during 2013 presidential elections, which was set up by Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor. During the seminar-training not only the observers’ rights and their application, but also a number of questions related to the overall election process were discussed.
The seminar-training was conducted by trainer Edgar Sargsyan’s, and by his words, the effectiveness of the training will be visible after the elections are held.
“It is the third subsequent training that has been conducted and over 22 participants have attended during each training course” noted Edgar Sargsyan. According to him, the observers pass a standardized training which is foreseen both for observers and members of Precinct Election Commission, but this seminar-training is a good source of additional information to enhance the previously acquired knowledge.
“Our today’s seminar has been organized by Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor and it comprises firstly recalling of information regarding observers’ mission and secondly presentation of cards and questionnaires which will be used by the observers to carry out their mission. On top of all, a brief roll-play illustrating an observer’s conduct is also planned, which is a hands-on practice singling it out from standard trainings they have attended previously.”
During the seminar the participants were individually introduced to the questionnaire forms to be used for observation missions conducted during elections, special observers’ guides were distributed and as a wrap-up of the seminar, a game, targeted at check-up of the effectiveness of obtained knowledge by the participants, was organized.
