After the psychological examination showed that Anzor Karapetyan, who died hours after being arrested, was not prone to suicide, the investigators terminated the criminal case though it would be more logical to start investigating a new version, the version of murder. Ani Chatinyan, the representative of Karapetyan’s successor (HCA Vanadzor office lawyer) talked about it in her interview with epress.am.

Karapetyan voluntarily surrendered to the police after participation in a street fight that took place on December 31, 2015, in Armavir. He was taken into custody, then arrested in the evening of January 3, 2016 by the court’s decision and transferred to “Armavir” prison at night.

According to the official version, the hanging body of the 21 year old man was found the next day in the cell. According to the official version, the young man committed a suicide but his relatives don’t believe in that version. The lawyer requested to reopen the case on the part of death by court order. The court will announce its decision on Chatinyan’s request in the beginning of September.

According to the defense side, the traces of violence found on Anzor Karapetyan’s body also testify against the version of suicide.

Note that the court has already satisfied Chatinyan’s another complaint about reopening the case of street fight with his participation. After his death the investigation of the other participants of the street fight was stopped on the grounds that it was a “self-defense” against Karapetyan’s attack. And now the street fight case will be sent to the court of general jurisdiction for re-examination by new stuff.
