After the Ruling of the RA Cassation Court the trial of Arman Antonyan’s case was put off at the Court of First Instance
06:23, August 13, 2013 | Press Release | Right to Fair Trial, Right to LifeOn July 23, 2013 the court trial over Arman Antonyan’s case was scheduled at the Court of Common Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan city, which, however, was put off. The reason was that the investigator hadn’t yet received the case- related materials from the archive in order to partake in the court hearing.
Artur Sakunts, representative of Arman Antonyan’s legal successor and chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor, noted, “Actually, the Court of First Instance must just approve of the ruling adopted by the RA Cassation Court, because it has no right to make any other decision. The court should have reached a decision to file a criminal case, but from merely formal standpoint, since the investigator didn’t have the materials, the hearing was put off until August 14.”
It is worth noting that Arman Antonyan died 3 years ago from acute liver failure triggered by fulminant nature of viral Hepatitis B and onset of liver necrosis. Over three years A. Antonyan’s mother has been trying to find out the reasons for his son’s infection, to reveal the perpetrators of her son’s death and subject them to liability.
