Armenian Kochari and Azerbaijani Plov
00:00, September 9, 2006 | Press ReleaseOn the last days of August the Youth Camp of Mutual Confidence was organized with young people from Nagorno Karabakh, Armenia and Azerbaijan at the Gugark Summer Camp in the region of Lori, Armenia.
The organizers had planned a series of interesting events to make the days of the participants more colorful. In the framework of the project, the Azerbaijani participants visited the Azerbaijani cemetery not far from the city of Vanadzor, which has recently been reconstructed by the Vanadzor office of Helsinki Civil Initiative NGO. The same NGO organized the summer camp.
For several days the Azerbaijani participants learned to dance Kochari and make a declaration of love in Armenian. And the young people from Karabakh tasted plov and traditional Azerbaijani tea prepared by the Azerbaijani campers.
This was the first meeting of most Karabakh young people with their Azerbaijani peers. At first they could not imagine what their relations would be like. Moreover, they could not imagine that they would become friends eventually.
They were sorry to part, not only because they were not sure they would meet again but they also realized that it is foolish to live isolated from people living next country.
