Case over 6 servicemen’s Death on Martuni border is at RA Court of Appeals

On January 8, 2013 the Court of Common Jurisdiction of Arabkir and Qanaqer-Zeytun Administrative Districts of Yerevan declined the claim of aggrieved party R. Hovhannisyan, A. Sargsyan and representative of victims’ successor Artur Sakunts regarding their demand to quash the decision made by Senior Inspector M. Bulghadaryan of RA Ministry of Defense SIC Department on not conducting a criminal prosecution on July 28, 2012 and closing the criminal case.
According to the case specifics, on July 28, 2012 the dead bodies of Senior Lieutenant Vardges Ararati Tadevosyan and term servicemen Garegin Hovsepyan, Andranik Sargsyan, Robert Hovhannisyan, Karo Ayvazyan and Artem Manasyan with gunshot wounds were found in # 56534 combat trenches of Mratuni 2 of Nagorno Karabakh.
A criminal case was initiated in #2 Garrison Investigation Division of RA MoD Special Investigation Service. The preliminary investigation with regard to the filed case was carried out for over 2 years. On July 28, 2012 a decision to close the criminal case was reached by Senior Inspector M. Bulghadaryan of RA Ministry of Defense SIC Department based on the death factor of Karo Ayvazyan and Vardges Tadevosyan.
Artur Sakunts, representative of victims’ successor, has appealed the decision.
