Civil Control over the Recruitment Process in Lori Region is Underway
00:00, October 17, 2008 | News | Rights of Soldiers/RecruitsOn October 15, 2008 Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor organized the second training within the framework of the project “Formation of Civil Control over the Recruitment Process” implemented with the support of Open Society Institute Assistance-Armenia.
The participants were familiarized with the methods of conducting interviews with the recruits and their families in order to find out their problems. The results of the monitoring conducted during the spring recruitment period were presented to them too.
Interviews will be held in Vanadzor, Alaverdi, Spitak, Tashir, and Stepanavan towns of Lori region also during the autumn recruitment with the aim of revealing violated rights of recruits and their relatives. The participants of the seminar will conduct the interviews among 60 recruits in each of the town during the period of October 1- December 31.
Speaking about the project goal and objectives once again, Arthur Sakunts, the coordinator of HCA Vanadzor, mentioned that this is the first time such a project has been implemented in Armenia, which includes the process of registration, notification, medical examination, attitude of employees of military commissariats and medical commissions towards the recruits and their relatives.
We would like to remind that the recruits and their relatives will be provided with necessary juridical support in case their rights are violated.
