HCA Vanadzor still struggles to file a criminal case over the threats made in the address of Zaruhi Postanjyan

Makyan, took into trial the appeal submitted by Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor A. Sakunts against the decision of the RA Special Investigative Service SIC investigator M.A. Babayan on refusing to file the criminal case dated on October 31, 2013.
It is worth noting that in a talk with Yerkir.am Deputy Minister of the RA Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, head of “Armenian Eagles” NGO Khachik Asryan made threats of violence in the address of the National Assembly MP Zaruhi Postanjyan and her relatives. In connection with this incident HCA Vanadzor submitted a report on crime to the RA SIS, however, RA Special Investigative Service SIC investigator M.A. Babayan declined to file a criminal case due to lack of criminality.
The court trial held over this case was held with the absence of the RA Special Investigative Service SIC investigator M.A. Babayan, since based on a previously submitted motion the latter requested to try the application in his absence but justifying it with overload of other judicial activities.
Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor A. Sakunts presented his demand to abolish the decision on refusing to file a criminal case and to send the case for a preliminary investigation by justifying the trial conducting body failed to carry out a full, objective and comprehensive investigation, moreover, explanations were taken neither from Zaruhi Postanjyan nor Khachik Asryan, who had made threats in her address.
At this the court hearing was put off by allowing the applicant to get acquainted with the preliminary investigation materials and the objection submitted to the court by the RA Special Investigative Service SIC investigator M.A. Babayan.
The next court hearing over this case is scheduled for 11:00 am, March 4, 2014.
