Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor announces competition for teachers to take part in a working meeting to be held in Turkey on February 2-7, 2013 within the framework of the project “Teachers for democratization and peace building in Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia,” implemented in collaboration with Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Turkey.
The purpose of the project is to contribute to peace-building efforts in Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia through empowerment of school teachers as actors in peace-building. The action specifically aims to enhance classroom management skills of school teachers in TR, AR, AZ and GE through comparing the role of formal education systems, teacher training methods in these countries, and learning various education methods, training practices that contribute to peace-building and conflict resolution.
Proposed Selection Criteria for Teacher Participants
Requirements
- Work experience (at least a year) as a teacher at the second level of primary education
- Previous experience in preparing educational reports, articles etc.
- Advanced oral and written language skills in English and/or Russian in addition to native language
- Previous experience and/or interest in innovative teaching methods, techniques for introducing democratic skills and practices into class management
Additional Criteria
- Previous experience as a participant in various innovative teaching methods, communication skills, democratic citizenship training programs is an asset
- Previous experience and/or participation in “trainer’s trainer” programs especially in education is an asset
- Previous experience as an education activist and/or active membership in professional education NGOs, education syndicates/unions, education networks and platforms is an asset
