11:50, August 28, 2015 | News, Other newsArtur Sakunts and Armine Sadikyan from Vanadzor, members of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor, were supported with the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant to visit Istanbul to do research on human right issues in the armed forces in Turkey, collaborate with organizations in Turkey carrying out similar activities, and to analyse possibilities for decreasing militarisation level in both countries.

“I think that ongoing tension between two countries can only do harm. The tension is the cause of the closed borders which negatively impacts the development of Armenia. We have to show, as representatives of civil society, that closed borders are not an obstacle to continue relations with each other, to work together and contribute to normalization of relations.”
