10:53, October 25, 2014 | News, Own newsOn October 20, 2014, the General Jurisdiction Court of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan, presided by judge V. Grigoryan, proceeded with considering the complaint by Hrachya Gevorgyan, inmate of the ‘Hospital for Convicts’ penitentiary under the RA Ministry of Justice (MoJ). Note that the previous court hearing on the complaint was postponed by the Court for the purpose of making necessary inquiries with the ‘Hospital for Convicts’ penitentiary under the RA MoJ. The information required within the enquiry was necessary to find out the exact dates when A. Mkhitaryan, acting investigator for high-profile cases at the Special Investigation Service (SIS) of the RA, demanded explanation from Hrachya Gevorgyan.
At the hearing, the Court of Justice read out the letter of response form A. Khachatryan, Head of the ‘Hospital for Convicts’ penitentiary under the RA MoJ. It clearly followed form the letter that the dates when A. Mkhitaryan, acting SIS investigator for high-profile cases visited Hrachya Gevorgyan coincided with those mentioned in the case records. T. Siradeghyan, Hrachya Gevorgyan’s representative, insisted on the submitted appeal and asked the Court to annul the decree of the acting SIS investigator for high-profile cases, A. Mkhitaryan, on declining to instigate criminal proceedings and refer the case to preliminary investigation. H. Gevorgyan stated that while he might have mixed up the dates when he was visited by the investigator, the facts that A. Gevorgyan, former Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Mashtots Division, Yerevan Department of the RA Police visited and threatened him were undeniable.
For his part, the representative of the Yerevan Prosecutor’s Office stated that the decree above was supported with the case records and there were no grounds to annul it. The same was stated by the A. Matevosyan, Investigator at Erebuni Investigatory Department, Criminal Investigation Department of the RA Police, who had issued the decree appealed.
Hence, the Court announced the consideration of the appeal completed, and the ruling on the appeal will be announced at 1:30 pm, October 28, 2014.
