Human Rights Protection and Civil Activism Trainings for Youth in Marzes (Regions)
12:05, October 8, 2014 | News, Own newsSince September 2014, the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor has held trainings on Human Rights Protection and Civil Activism in the marzes (regions) of the RA. The trainings are organized under Promoting Local Human Rights Activism Project funded by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Armenia.
The two-day training course provides the participants with theoretical and practical knowledge on human rights and various mechanisms for their protection. The training materials presented during the course are divided into 3 groups:
- Legal, including knowledge on human rights and legal mechanisms for their
protection, as well as on police, courts of law, etc;
- Informative, i.e. freedom of information and expression, misinformation, awareness;
- Civil activism, i.e. strategy of civil initiatives; development stages.
At the end of the training course, its participants can receive small grants to solve some problems in their communities.
The training course has already been held in the towns of Charentsavan, Armavir and Goris. Other courses are intended to be held in the communities below:
Yeghegnadzor: 11-12.10.2014 (Arpa hotel, Gr. a8/1, Yeghegnadzor);
Ijevan: 25-26.10.2014 (further information will be provided on the training venue);
Gavar: 01-02.11.2014 (further information will be provided on the training venue);
Ashtarak: 08-09.11.2014 (further information will be provided on the training venue);
Artashat: 15-16.11.2014 (further information will be provided on the training venue).
