International Peace Event, Sarajevo
11:12, June 18, 2014 | News, Own newsThe opening ceremony of the International Peace Event on June 6, 2014 in Sarajevo took place. Over 2500 participants from 32 countries were present at the international Peace Event.
Well-known international and national guests discussed various issues, topics and common concerns on peace. They brought to the participants’ attention the lessons learned from history and that peaceful solutions to conflicts are possible and the only way to avoid war.
The event consisted of a conference, round tables and over 190 workshops on various topics delivered by experts and activists from the invited organizations.
Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor was also invited to the Peace Event. The representatives of the organization delivered a workshop on Militarism and its alternatives and brought the example of South Caucasus, in particular Armenian case.
HCA Vanadzor representatives also participated in other events, in particular related to the formation of Helsinki Citizens Assembly movement delivered by Mary Kaldor, one of the founders of the movement; the workshop on Europe: Integration or Disintegration, Factors of Peace and Democracy, Social Justice, etc.
All discussions were held in the atmosphere of great solidarity, respect, understanding and learning from each other.
