Is “Wolf” of Mataghis in Security Personnel of Kocharyan?
14:21, January 23, 2013 | News | Right to Fair Trial, Right to Life, Rights of Soldiers/Recruits | Armed Forces“If the RA law-enforcement bodies, the Police, the NSS and the judicial authorities cannot find one individual and carry out the court’s regulation so that he appears in the court and give testimony, this might mean two things: they are either extremely unskillful or they have consciously contributed to or are responsible for initiating activities aimed at concealing the criminal suspect”, stated Artur Sakunts, Chairman of HCA-Vanadzor in an interview with galatv.am over the most controversial case of Mataghis. He means the former Platoon Commander Ivan Grigoryan. Regarding he latter, the court has a decision to find him and summon to the court for interrogation.
“There has always been such a demand: during all the court sessions, including both the previous time and since 2006, and during the court hearing at the RA Shirak Region Court of Common Jurisdiction.” However, the law-enforcement bodies cannot locate Ivan Grigoryan. Quite recently, rumors were spread that not only Ivan Grigoryan isn’t missing from the Republic of Armenia, but also he is a bodyguard of a high-rank official, to put it more precisely, the head of the security personnel. RA second president Robert Kocharyan is in the list of the other circulated names, according to the rumors, Ivan Grigoryan, who is being sought over Mataghis case, is in Kocharyan’s security personnel. “I hear he is Kocharyan’s bodyguard”, stated Artur Sakunts in an interview with galatv.am and added, “It does not matter if he is Kocharyan’s, Tsarukyan’s or another official’s security. It is not important whose bodyguard he is, what matters more is that the criminal suspect or the person involved in a criminal case can be the bodyguard of a high-rank official and our mentality is such that is sounds quite normal. It is all about the quality of bodyguard’s institute in Armenia”, noted Artur Sakunts.
Galatv.am reporter tried to clarify from R. Kocharyan’s Press Secretary if the rumors correspond to the reality and if Ivan Grigoryan, who had been long sought over Mataghis case, was actually in R. Kocharyan’s security personnel. V. Soghomonyan denied this information by stating: “It is the first time I have learnt such a name and surname from you, I have never heard such a name and surname from the security personnel. How did you say? Ivan Grigoryan? I have never heard such a person’s name, it is the first time”, stated V. Soghomonyan.
It should be added that the letter of former Defense Army Commander Seyran Ohanyan addressed to the Ex-military Prosecutor Gagik Jhangiryan regarding Ivan Grigoryan, known by nickname “Wolf”, is still being kept in the documents of Mataghis case, through which he was requesting to demonstrate forgiving attitude towards Ivan Grigoryan as “he has repented and is a national hero.”
