Presentation of Aarhus Convention Provisions Report and Journalist Competition
00:00, December 15, 2006 | Press Release | Support for civil iniciativesOn December 12, 2006 the report on implementation of the Aarhus convention provisions was presented. The preparation and publication of the report was financed by OSCE Office in Yerevan.
The event organized jointly with the Ministry of Nature Protection of RA, EPAC and the Yerevan Public Environmental Information (Aarhus) Centre attracted around 70 participants from RA Government, regional Aarhus centers, NGOs and international organizations.
The key points of the report were presented by Ms. Aida Iskoyan to be followed by activity presentations of the regional Aarhus centers established with the OSCE Office support in Vanadzor, Idjevan, Dilijan, Kapan and Goris.
In his welcoming speech Ambassador Vladimir Pryakhin marked the process of promotion of Aarhus Convention provisions as “of extreme importance for raising awareness on environmental rights and promoting ecological education”.
The event was wrapped up by awards presentation to “Environment and Urbanization” journalist competition winners. The competition was held for the forth year and two nomination categories were supported: TV and press journalists. In each nomination Ist , IInd and IIIrd prizes were marked out. Additionally, 5 encouraging prizes were defined too.
Among the TV reporter winners were Nelly Danileyan from “Erkir Media”, Vahe Kazaryan from “Kentron” and Lilit Davtyan TV “Shoghakat”, respectively winning the Ist , IInd and IIIrd prizes . In the nomination of press journalists the awards went to Ashot Gareginyan from “Delovoy Express”, Galust Nanyan from “Republic of Armenia” and Naira Bulghadaryan from “Civil Initiative”, respectively winning Ist , IInd and IIIrd prizes.
