Sakunts Suspects that Serviceman are still fed on Buffalo meat
13:20, January 29, 2013 | News | Rights of Soldiers/Recruits | Armed Forces“I cannot verify that the situation has ameliorated by any of the parameters: I mean neither by mortality rate, nor by the situation of violation of statutes and relations. Not even from the standpoint of violations recorded during military recruitment and investigation of criminal cases of deaths. Neither by the reduction of corruption risks, nor by the accountability of the Army. It has not changed by any of the aforementioned parameters. They can change the protagonists, for instance, the incumbent of Military Medical Commission, the Deputy Chief of General Headquarters of Armed forces, but the situation stays the same”, expressed his concerns human rights activist Artur Sakunts, Chairman of HCA-Vanadzor, in an interview with galatv.am while sharing his views over the current situation in the Army and existing issues there. He once again voiced about the issue of scandalous provision of buffalo meat by expressing his conviction that it is quite possible (nobody denies it) that still today buffalo meat might be served to our border guards.
There has been a high rank level heated dispute over the provision of buffalo meat: even the Deputy Chief of General Headquarters of Armed forces was eliminated. Now I pose a question and anticipate a reply if there is buffalo meat provision or not, and if yes, then who is in charge of meat procurement. Because according to the information I have, the provision of meat is implemented by Kapan meat processing and packing plant. I want them to reveal which company has won an open call to provide pork to the RA Armed Forces. In compliance to my information, again high-rank officials stand in the shade of those companies and in fact they partake in open calls and the companies win due to their support and patronage.
As Artur Sakunts assures that the aforementioned officials are disguised in the system of law-enforcement, Military Prosecutor’s Office and Ministry of Defense. “All this should be amended. On the one hand, it is reported to be a secret, on the other hand, one-sided and incomplete information is disseminated and finally it is not clearly-cut who stands in the back of those companies. Random organizations cannot win open calls in condition of such a corruption system.
