Statement regarding Hayk Khachatryan’s Case
12:19, March 15, 2012 | Announcements | Rights of Soldiers/Recruits | Armed ForcesHCA Vanadzor has a number of concerns regarding the investigation of the death of Hayk Movses Khachatryan, who was conscripted on June 1, 2011 and died of chickenpox on December 30, 2011, because of the negligence of the medical personnel of the army unit.
In particular, the Organization was informed that fellow servicemen, who provided information about the reasons for Hayk’s health deterioration during the military service and the ill-treatment by the commander towards him, are being intimidated; they are convinced, persuaded, and forced to give untruthful testimony. Since they are currently under the supervision of the Army Unit Commander, who is directly responsible for the situation, we are demanding that the inquest body take actions to exclude intimidation against the servicemen and ensure an objective, thorough, and unbiased examination of the criminal case.
