The participants, namely the conscripts, servicemen and their relatives, were interested in hearing about the recent legislative changes.
It is noteworthy that in Goris there were also military education teachers with their students from public schools.
The trainers presented the procedures for the military enlistment of persons of pre-conscription age, the rights and obligations of conscripts during conscription, the grounds for granting deferment from compulsory military service or exemption from compulsory military service, the rights of prospective conscripts, conscripts and servicemen during military examinations, the violations that are common in practice and other matters.
When speaking about the appeal mechanisms connected with fitness for military service, the trainers presented the structure of conscription commissions, the practical activity of the Organization and the measures aimed at overcoming the existing problems.
The participants have the opportunity to present specific cases and problems to the trainers and to receive legal advice and support at the spot. In some cases, they present medical documents on their state of health, which are studied both by the specialists of the Organization as well as the expert doctor of the Organization.
Apart from being interested in questions on the course of conscription and military service, the participants were also interested in the details on other legal regulations: in particular, the procedures for declaring a person legally incapacitated, the legal regulations for performing military service in the RA, having citizenship of another country, and other matters.
It should be recalled that HCA Vanadzor developed an informative brochure aimed at informing RA citizens liable for conscription about their rights and obligations. These brochures were presented to the participants in the training.
The informative brochure is specifically applicable for the citizens of the RA who are of military enlistment age or of conscription age, for their parents and relatives, representatives, citizens performing military service, their parents and relatives as well as for lawyers and other people who are interested in this field of law.
The series of trainings, which is aimed at raising the awareness of conscripts and servicemen and is being conducted with the financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), continues. The next training is set to be held in Armavir on June 21, 2018.
