The decision on the conscript’s fitness has been changed with the intervention of HCA Vanadzor
11:48, February 1, 2018 | News, Own news | Rights of Soldiers/Recruits | Armed ForcesOn January 24, 2018 conscript D. U., who has problems with his vision, with the support of HCA Vanadzor, was recognized as temporarily unfit for military service (he was granted a deferment of 3 years) with the diagnosis of “short-sightedness, myopic astigmatism.”
On July 7, 2017, during the summer call-up, under the decision of the CMC the conscript, who had the same health issues, was granted a deferment of 5 months in order to receive treatment.
He received another deferment on December 21, 2017, during the winter call-up, this time with the diagnosis of “short-sightedness of two eyes of a moderate degree.” However, it became obvious from the examination of the issues in the documents of the conscript that a point was applied to him that obviously did not correspond to the real situation.
The Organization presented relevant arguments to the RA Ministry of Defense in order for a re-examination to be conducted.
As a result of it, with a re-examination the five-month deferment of December 21, 2017 was changed on January 24, 2018; the conscript was recognized as temporarily unfit for military service (a deferment of 3 years was granted) with the diagnosis “short-sightedness, myopic astigmatism.”
Nevertheless, this time the documents included such data connected with the visual acuity of the conscript, in the case of which a conscript shall be recognized as unfit for military service and removed from registration. After a complex examination of documents, in case there are sufficient grounds, HCA Vanadzor will also appeal that decision.
