The RA Human Rights Issue to be discussed in the UN
13:44, July 11, 2012 | NewsUN Human Rights Committee will consider the human rights situation in Armenia, which can be watched live online on Monday, July 16, 2012 and Tuesday, July 17, 2012.
Armenia is one of the 167 states which have joined the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and is subject to regular assessment by the Human Rights Committee. Last time, Human Rights Committee made observation օn Armenia in 1998.
The meetings, which will take place on Monday, July 16, 5:00 – 7:00 pm and on Tuesday, July 17, 12:00 -3:00 pm (Geneva time), can be followed online.
The committee, consisting of 18 independent experts, will hold a discussion on promotion and protection of human rights in Armenia.
The Armenian Government has presented a government report to the Human Rights Committee on the implementation of obligations undertaken by the country in regards to human rights, and some nongovernmental organizations haves submitted shadow reports to the committee as well.
