The series of trainings funded by the OSF-Armenia  under the HCA Vanadzor Sustainability in the RA in light of Democracy and Human Rights Challenges Project was launched in city of Gyumri. The Rights and Duties of Conscripts and Servicemen and Legal Regulations on Protection of Conscripts’ Rights training was mostly attended by young men of pre-conscription age, law and legal students of various higher educational institutions and families of conscripts. The training was facilitated by Armine Sadikyan, HCA Vanadzor Peace-building Department Coordinator. She introduced the rights and duties of the conscripts before and during conscription and particularly issues on military registration, recruitment, conscripts’ fitness for military service, as well as relevant regulatory legislation and its enforcement practices. The facilitator also presented the servicemen’s rights and responsibilities and privileges during their military service, as well as the appeal mechanisms and legal regulations for the citizens who failed to do their compulsory military service. The facilitator also referred to the mechanisms for medical examination of conscripts and servicemen. The training participants asked questions to the speaker, brought as example various situations and discussed a number of real cases.
