Ukrainian citizen Bogdan Kaliusskyi is to be released on bail
11:28, May 25, 2018 | News, Own newsYesterday, on May 24, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan upheld the motion filed by Ukrainian citizen Bogdan Kaliusskyi’s defender Arayik Zalyan (advocate at HCA Vanadzor) with regard to using bail in the amount of 1,000,000 AMD as an alternative preventive measure.
B. Kaliusskyi is to be released upon paying the bail amount.
We have previously reported that the RA Migration Service provided an asylum seeker certificate to him.
Bogdan Kaliusskyi was arrested on March 31, 2018 in Armenia on the charge of forgery of documents and illegal state border crossing. On April 1, he was detained and is now at Nubarashen Penitentiary Institution.
He has been unlawfully subjected to criminal prosecution by the law enforcement agencies in the Russian Federation since 2013. In the Russian Federation, he is charged with public calls for the commission of acts of terror. There was a concern that he could be extradited to the RF.
As regards the charges of the forgery of documents and illegal state border crossing that were brought against him in the RA, the Embassy of Ukraine in the RA confirmed that Bogdan Kaliusskyi had changed his name and surname legally in 2017; therefore, he had crossed the border with a legal document.
