Vanadzor-Yerevan Route Agency was Fined
00:00, June 30, 2011 | News | Freedom of MovementThe Transport Inspection of the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the Republic of Armenia has charged “Vosketev” LLD, which serves Vanadzor-Yerevan route, for refusing to serve the route on May 31(Armenian National Congress rally day).
No minibuses belonging to “Vosketev” LLD appeared in Vanadzor bus station on that day and the passengers were forced to wait for long hours.
Samvel Matinyan, head of Lori Department of Transport Inspection noted in an interview with “Azatutyun” Radio Station that the first penalty, pursuant to the law on “Administrative Violations” was 5000 AMD. “Vosketev” LLD must pay the amount within 2 months or appeal the defined penalty act. According to Matinyan, the penalty amount will be doubled in case the company violates the law for the second time.
Artur Aleksanyan, head of “Vosketev” LLD told “Azatutyun” Radio Station even though they did not agree with the penalty, they would pay it because they believed 5000 AMD was not worth appealing. The reason Aleksanyan brings in for his disagreement is that they were very busy with the technical examinations of their minibuses that day.
Artur Sakunts, head of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor, who has addressed numerous letters to the Government regarding this issue, wonders why the company always decides to conduct the technical examination of their minibuses on the days of the ANC rallies.
Sakunts considers the defined penalty irrelevant, because he believes that in this case the Government must nullify the company’s license for its inactivity on the days of the Opposition rallies during the previous two years.
