On 13 March 2018, the European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE), a civil society network of independent election observation organizations, and its Lithuanian member International Elections Study Center (IESC) were classified as “undesirable organizations” by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.

(Berlin) – A prominent human rights defender in Armenia has received death threats, Human Rights Watch said today. The authorities should immediately investigate the threats, made on the rights defender’s Facebook page, and ensure that he gets the protection he needs.

Armenian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) Civil Society Forum (CSF) strictly condemns the February 19, 2016 decision of General Jurisdiction Court of Shengavit Administrative District to detain civic activist Vardges Gaspari and the fact of not preventing violent tortures by his cellmates under the connivance of the prison administration of “Nubarashen” penitentiary. The morals and manners characteristic of the penitentiaries of Stalin and Soviet times must be eradicated and must be considered unacceptable for the justice system of independent Armenia.
