RA Court of Criminal Appeals dismissed appeals on Lia Misakyan’s case

Avetisyan, announced its judgment on the appeals of the representatives of the successor to victim and defendants’ attorneys on the case of 2-year-and-3-month-old Lia Misakyan’s death. By its judgment, the RA Court of Criminal Appeals dismissed the appeal of Artur Sakunts and Tatevik Siradeghyan, representatives of victim’s successor Georgi Misakyan, and that of Givi Hovhannisyan and Yerem Sargsyan, attorneys of defendants Lilit Vardanyan and Zarine Ayvazyan, respectively, against the guilty verdict of the General Jurisdiction Court of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts, Yerevan, RA, dated June 15, 2015 and upheld the judicial act of the General Jurisdiction Court.
Note that in its judgment, the General Jurisdiction Court of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts, Yerevan, RA, found Lilit Vardanyan and Zarine Ayvazyan, physicians on duty at ‘Arabkir’ Medical Center, guilty for the act under Article 130(2) (failure to fulfill or properly fulfill professional duties by medical and support personnel, which caused through negligence the patient’s death) of the RA Criminal Code by sentencing them to imprisonment for 2 years and 2 years and 6 months, respectively without additional sanctions.
At the same time, the Court applied Para 4(1) of the Amnesty Act to mark the 22nd anniversary of the RA independence and released the defendants from punishment.
