Shant Harutyunyan: “I am ready to fight with my fists for my people and my country”

Khachatryan, resumed examination of the appeals on the case of Shant Harutyunyan and others detained on November 5, 2013. Note that on the previous court hearing, the defense advocates involved in the case completely presented the appeals, and appeals were also filed by defendants Alek Poghosyan, Armen Hovhannisyan, Tigran Petrosyan, Vahe Mkrtchyan, Misak Arakelyan, Albert Margaryan, Liparit Petrosyan and Vardan Vardanyan.
At the court hearing, Shant Harutyunyan and Shahen Harutyunyan also filed appeals. Shahen Harutyunyan upheld his advocate’s appeal.
During the hearing, Shant Harutyunyan claimed that both the preliminary and trial examinations of the case lacked comprehensive investigation since the motives of his value revolution remained unrevealed. In his speech, he also stated that no matter whether the enemy was inside or outside, he was ready to fight with his fists for his people and for his country.
Prosecutor G. Gevorgyan objected to the appeals stating that the arguments therein had been also presented during the trial examination at the lower court of law. The prosecutor also mentioned that the appealed judicial act was reasonable and well-grounded and the evidence obtained was sufficient for a guilty verdict and asked the court to dismiss the appeals and uphold the judicial act.
The Court passed to the stage of considering the motions on presenting extra evidence. However, due to the general assembly of judges, the court hearing was postponed till 3:00 pm, January 30, 2015.
