Artur Sakunts, “I consider Hayk Movsisyan’s case as an organized murder being canceled by state authorities”

Today Artur Sakunts, Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor and Hayk Movsisyan’s mother Heghine Petrosyan presented the case-related details during a discussion at “Media Center” on the progress of Hayk Movsisyan’s case, who had died at “NKR Shushi” Penitentiary, and refusal to recognize his mother as victim’s successor.
“We returned to Armenia from Moscow and got to know that the child was being wanted and he was arrested right at the airport. I went to the Military Police to find out his location but they didn’t tell me anything. I went to the Ministry of Defense and the answer was the same. They were claiming my son didn’t hang himself, the advocate was talking in favor of the prosecutor”, Heghine Petrosyan provided details.
“Hayk Movsisyan died at “Shushi” Penitentiary in November of last year, but neither his mother nor the father has been so far recognized as a successor. The parents have been deprived of protecting the rights of their son”, stated Artur Sakunts. By his words, Hayk Movsisyan was declared guilty for evading military service by the verdict of Syunik region Court of Common Jurisdiction, Hayk Movsisyan had a military book received from the RA Ministry of Defense.
“On April 13, 2013, through the petition of the RA Prosecutor General, the Court of Appeals recognized Hayk Movsisyan innocent after his death. On May 3, SIS Chief is dismissed” added Sakunts, according to whom, 6 months was quite sufficient to have conducted a preliminary investigation and a medical-forensic examination. Sakunts explains that the failure to carry out those obligations by the state gives grounds to assume that Hayk Movsisyan was killed “Shushi” Penitentiary.
We claim that Hayk Movsisyan’s mother Heghine Petrosyan should be immediately recognized as victim’s successor. I consider the refusal to recognize her a successor as continuing to conceal the crime. The main crime is Hayk Movsisyan’s murder”. Sakunts also made the following statement, “I consider Hayk Movsisyan’s case as an organized murder at the state level, which is being concealed by the state authorities. I claim this with great responsibility”.
