Plaintiff Arayik Zalyan in a talk with Panorama.am correspondent informed that responding party Vahe Hovsepyan, advocate of Gagik Jhangiryan petitoned the court to allocate time to get familiarized with the claim and promulgate its verdict regarding it. The next court hearing will be held on April 10.
It should be noted that the court trial scheduled on March 15 was also cancelled since responding party Jhangiryan’s advocate didn’t provide proper authorization to the court. Arayik Zalyan, Musa Serobyan and Razmik Sargsyan demand that Gagik Jhangiryan should compensate for the damages caused to their reputation, dignity and business prestige as well as make a public apology.
The interview of Gagik Jhangiryan after the acquittal verdict over the Mataghis case reached by the Shirak Region Court of Common Jurisdiction on December 18, 2012 served as basis for the appeal. Within the scopes of the Mataghis case Arayik Zalyan, Musa Serobyan and Razmik Sargsyan have for long years been accused in a crime they never committed.
It must be noted that right after the acquittal verdict on December 18 of last year Gagik Jhangiryan, while commenting on the verdict in a talk with jounalists at the National Assembly, stated, “They are the murderers and they should serve their sentence, I haven’t changed my opinion”.
“Through the aforementioned expressions, Gagik Jhangiryan intended to besmirch the reputation and dignity of Arayik Zalyan, Musa Serobyan and Razmik Sargsyan as well as violate their presumption of innocence with an aim to create a negative impression”, states the claim.
Arayik Zalyan, Musa Serobyan and Razmik Sargsyan demand that Gagik Jhangiryan should be obligated to make a public apology for the insults in their address, as well as require levying 300.000 AMD for insults and slander, respectively, moreover, recognizing the fact of violating the presumption of innocence of Arayik Zalyan, Musa Serobyan and Razmik Sargsyan.
