Let them put up the Statues of Godfather Jhangiryan and Ivan Grigoryan in their Village
13:49, January 18, 2013 | News | Right to Fair Trial, Right to Life, Rights of Soldiers/Recruits | Armed ForcesThe relatives of the Mataghis Case aggrieved party Roman Yeghiazaryan have declared that the 3 young men who were granted amnesty are in fact the guilty. They claim that Razmik Sargsyan’s confession testimony wasn’t false and that the ex-military prosecutor Gagik Jhangiryan exerted a great many efforts to reveal the true culprits of the Mataghis Case.
galatv.am has conducted an interview with Artur Sankunts, chairman of HCA-Vanadzor with this regard. The full interview is presented below.
– Mr. Sakunts, in fact, one of the aggrieved parties announces that the amnesty verdict taken by the Shirak Region Court of Common Jurisdiction is unlawful and that the perpetrators are those 3 young men that were released. What is your standpoint regarding this?
– Unfortunately, Roman Yeghiazaryan’s relatives either take Ivan Grigoryanv’s or Jhangiryan’s side. My suggestion is that they should put up the statues of the two in their village. I am quite serious, let them put up the statues of Jhangiryan and Ivan Grigoryan next one another in their village.
I have only recently had the opportunity to say that the behavior exposed by Roman Yeghiazaryan’s relatives has drastically shifted after the interrogator was changed. They must bring in explanation why they have changed their disposition, they must provide grounds. It is more of strange for me to see them assiduously defend the person who has concealed the crime. That is why I insist they have one variant to set up the statues of both, since they have no legal grounds. They have no command of the materials over the criminal case.
– Roman Yeghiazaryan’s relatives point at Razmik Sargsyan’s confession testimony given in 2004. Isn’t that a legal ground in the criminal case according to you?
– Roman Yeghiazaryan’s relatives don’t rely on the revelations made during the court proceedings, instead, they display subjective approach but have no grounds to hold such standpoints, however, Jhangiryan’s anxiety is conditioned by objective reasons. More facts have been revealed during the 2 preliminary investigations and court trials of the case.
To put it mildly, no objective and versatile investigation has been conducted. From that perspective, Gagik Jhangiryan, the godfather of the evidently unlawful accusation over Mataghis case, has concerns. I think Gevorg Kostanyan should also be concerned. If we are looking at the objective grounds, in this case Jhangiryan’s concerns are more than clear and therefore it becomes even more vivid why Roman Yeghiazaryan’s relatives are so determined and keep on claiming that everything has been normal previously and on top of all express their gratitude to Jhangiryan. Let them also thank Ivan Grigoryan, the latter very well ran the battalion, where two servicemen, including their son, lost their lives.
