Protest Action with the Involvement of Children
06:49, June 2, 2013 | Press Release | Children's rights, Freedom of Assembly and AssociationOn June 1, 2013, International Children’s Day, over hundreds of Vanadzor residents, including numerous children, organized a protest action in the vicinity of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor office.
The protest participants were shouting “football”, “don’t impede playing football”, “HCA Vanadzor impedes construction of football stadium” expressions. The protestants were holding posters with the following slogans “No to immorality”, “No to Sakunts, yes to junior football”, “Long life to football”.
It is worth noting that HCA Vanadzor had filed a claim to the RA administrative court demanding invalidation of # 75 and 76 decision of Avagani taken on October 26 of 2010, whereby, the community Avagani donated the city’s football stadium with ownership a right to the RA Football Federation for the purpose of its reconstruction.
The Organization’s approach was that first of all pursuant to the current legislation a community property cannot be donated by ownerships, moreover, the donation contract didn’t by any point specify the obligations of the RA Football Federation after the stadium reconstruction in terms of using it for football development as well as the community authorizations and jurisdictions in relation to the stadium.
However, taking into account the dependence of court instances on executive power as well as oligarchy patronizing the latter, the claim of HCA Vanadzor was declined. Such protest actions could be anticipated during the court trial, however, none of today’s protestants appeared during the court proceedings. Moreover, after the court’s ruling entered into legal force, when there are no more obstacles, in our opinion, the stadium donated for the purpose of reconstruction contradicts the legal norms and such a protest action is at least awkward or outdated in terms of its demands. It is apparent that it is not the claim of HCA Vanadzor that impedes the football development in Vanadzor as they were attempting to show.
Certainly, we are glad that children are willing to struggle for their rights, organize protest actions and present their demands. Moreover, we are willing to provide support in the struggle against cases of violations, inhuman treatment in relation to youth and children in educational establishments, police departments, armed forces and expression of corruption.
Moreover, it would be welcoming to see them among participants and initiators during similar protest actions. We always stand up for the protection of children’s rights. We congratulate the protestant children on International Children’s Day and wish them to be healthy, to show consistency and put in their principles in the struggle for their rights.
