06:33, December 13, 2013 | News, Other news | Right to Fair Trial | PoliceThe RA Court of Criminal Appeals, presided by Gagik Avetisyan, heard the appeal of Shant Harutyunyan’s defense attorney Inesa Petrosyan. Neither prosecutor Gevorgyan, nor the investigator appeared before the court, however, the court saw no obstacle in hearing the case.
The appeal was declined and the promulgation of the verdict went open doors. Inesa Petrosyan stated she had demanded that her defendant Shant was also present at the court hearing but the court rejected it. It is noteworthy that the defense attorney was appealing November 19 decision taken by the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts, whereby, Shant Harutyunyan was transferred to psychiatric hospital to undergo an examination for a term of 24 days.
It is worth noting that before the Court of Appeals decided on the day of the court hearing, on the 20th day of Shant Harutyunyan’s placement at the mental hospital he was taken to “Yerevan Knetorn” Penitentiary. Inesa Petrosyan stated that she had demanded from the Court to record the fact of violating his right.
